What font size is required for digital printing?

When printing with digital large-format printers and during manual or automated cutting with plotters or milling machines, dimensional deviations may occur. The machine manufacturers specify the permissible tolerances and minimum sizes as follows:

• Fonts: at least 6 point (6 pt)
• Dark lines on a light background: at least 0.5 point  (0.5 pt)
• Light lines on a dark background: at least 1.0 point  (1.0 pt)
• Possible dimensional deviation during cutting per running meter: +/- 2 mm
